As a trusted partner to the Federal Aviation Administration, Peraton helps deliver the systems and services that keep our nation’s skies safe and connected.

We’re looking for innovative professionals who thrive in mission-critical environments and are passionate about shaping the future of air traffic management. This is your chance to make an impact on one of the world’s most vital transportation infrastructures, working alongside leaders in aviation, engineering, data science, and systems integration.

At Peraton, you won’t just support the mission — you’ll define it.

Peraton is seeking a highly skilled Test Automation Engineer SME to support FAA programs focused on modernizing and securing the National Airspace System (NAS). This position plays a key role in ensuring complex systems and enterprise capabilities are successfully integrated, verified, validated, and transitioned into operational environments. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with disciplined systems engineering practices to deliver reliable, mission-critical solutions for the FAA.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain standards, practices, and procedures for integrating, testing, evaluating, and transitioning FAA systems and enterprise capabilities.

  • Evaluate enterprise architectures, system designs, and processes for integration, test, and evaluation impacts; identify risks and opportunities for improvement.

  • Develop and implement comprehensive test and evaluation (T&E) strategies, plans, and methods to ensure system reliability and compliance with FAA and industry standards.

  • Review and derive requirements for testability; generate verification and validation (V&V) approaches and define customer acceptance criteria.

  • Ensure system and enterprise capability compliance through formal verification and validation methods, documenting traceability from requirements to results.

  • Plan, prepare for, and execute system integration and T&E events, including functional, performance, regression, and acceptance testing.

  • Compile and analyze test data, define corrective actions or process changes, and update configurations and procedures as necessary.

  • Prepare and deliver detailed test activity reports, risk assessments, and system evaluation summaries to internal leadership and FAA stakeholders.

  • Conduct integration regression testing to verify and validate fixes or modifications affecting system performance.

  • Coordinate test and transition activities with cross-functional teams, FAA customers, and other contractors to ensure seamless operational deployment.

  • Support continuous process improvement and lessons-learned initiatives to enhance future testing and integration efficiency.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship Required.
  • Must have the ability to obtain / maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Minimum of 12 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 10 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 7 years with Ph.D.
  • 5–10 years of experience in systems integration, test, and evaluation within federal or aviation programs (FAA experience strongly preferred).

  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing T&E plans and verification/validation strategies for large-scale or enterprise systems.

  • Solid understanding of systems engineering principles (INCOSE or equivalent), requirements management, and configuration control.

  • Familiarity with FAA systems engineering, verification, and validation processes, including NAS lifecycle documentation standards.

  • Experience using industry-standard tools for test management, requirements traceability, and data analysis.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary, customer-facing environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • INCOSE CSEP or ASEP certification.

  • Experience with FAA NextGen, BNATC, or TechOps modernization programs.

  • Knowledge of FAA acquisition and T&E standards (AMS, NAS-SE, etc.).
